Cauliflower Pizza Recipe!

Hi! Before I begin, follow our instagram @cactuscollective for updates and more information. Okay so so so I found this recipe from a Youtube video and I thought it would be fun to do a blog post on it. (Also this is the first food recipe post thing on this blog so I hope you like it)

Here's watcha need:
1 small to medium sized head of cauliflower
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 cup shredded parmesan cheese
1/4 cup mozzarella cheese
1 egg
optional 1 tablespoon almond meal
any sauce, cheese or toppings you want for on the pizza!
To start, preheat yo oven to 450 degrees and place a baking sheet in the oven.

Next, place a large piece of parchment paper and spray it with nonstick cooking oil on a cutting board. (We'll be using that l8rrr)

Wash and throughly dry a small head of cauliflower. Then cut off the florets.

Pulse in your food processor for about 30 seconds, until you get powdery snow like cauliflower. You should end up with 2 to 3 cups of cauliflower snow. Place the cauliflower in a microwave safe bowl and cover. Microwave for 4 minutes.

Dump cooked cauliflower onto a clean tea towel and let it cool.

Once cauliflower is cool enough to handle, wrap it up in the dish towel and ring the heck out of it. Squeeze out as much water as possible. Now you'll have a chewy pizza like crust instead of a crumbly mess.

Place ringed out cauliflower into a bowl. Now add 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese, 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt, 1/2 teaspoon dried basil, 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, and a dash of red pepper if you want. Add an egg and mix away.

I used my hands to mix but use whatever floats your boat ya feel. (You could use a whisk or electric mixer or something)

Once mixed together, form the dough into a crust on your oiled parchment paper. (Told ya)  Pat it down thoroughly, to make it nice and tightly formed together.

Slide the parchment paper onto the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for 8 - 11 minutes, until it starts to turn golden brown. Remove from oven.

Now you can chop up the vegetables you want to use! I used mushrooms, zucchinis, onions, tomatoes and basil. For sauce I used pesto (my fav) and classic marina sauce. And the cheeses I used where parmesan and mozzarella!

Once you're done topping your pizza, slide the parchment paper with the pizza back in the hot oven and cook for another 5 to 7 minutes until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden.

Wait for two minutes, and you're ready to eat your delicious and gluten free pizza! I put pesto, mozzarella, tomato, onion, mushroom and basil on mine. My sister put marina sauce, parmesan, tomato, onion, basil and zucchini on hers. I'd like to give a huge shout out to her for helping me photograph and cook! I hope you guys enjoyed this post and try out this recipe -Iris xoxo

SOCKS SOCKS SOCKS

Hey guys, today i'm gonna talk to you about socks. I love socks. Socks are great. Let me tell you about socks.

I particularly like these kinds of socks, btw this is not me in my underwear. These socks are great because they elongate your legs and are like leg blankets for those cold days when you still want to wear shorts/dresses/skirts. Basically, they're a great transition piece for winter, because you can add them to your summer staples and it keeps you warm and adds a whole different look to it. Plus, like in this picture, if you don't wanna wear pants but still want to keep your legs warm, thigh high socks are the perfect solution!

Here are some more cool socks (all of these are from free
people btw) These are more like mid-calf socks, which are like my 2nd most worn kind of sock. They look really cute with ankle boots and these ones are particularly pretty because of the crochet (?) detailing.I feel like they're almost too pretty to wear shoes with, and I would just wear them around the house.

These are pretty much knee high socks, in this picture they look really cute, but just plain knee high socks remind me of soccer socks. I say go hard (thigh high) or go home. Just kidding, but knee high socks just aren't my favorite because they always fall down because they aren't long enough to hold onto your knees, and they just end up gathered around my calfs like a sock monkey or something. To be honest though they look really cute here all wrinkled up, with a dress they might work really well!

Here are some more thigh high socks that I really love. I've been on the hunt for a t-shirt dress. (It's exactly what it sounds like) I feel like it would look really cute with some thigh high socks and boots. Sort of like this picture, but with the boots. I like how it's baggy on top and then tighter (because of the socks) on the legs so you don't lose your shape. I found some perfect t-shirt dresses @ UO (urban outfitters) but they're like 40$ and I just don't wanna spend that much when H&M will probably have them in a few weeks for like 15$.
These are really cute lacy-looking socks. They definitely take me back to 1st-3rd grade but they make any shoe look so much prettier and girlier. Ah know that i'm thinking about it, these might actually be my 2nd favorite type of socks because they just look so cute with boots and dresses. You can't not feel like a little fairy when you're wearing these! I have some like this except in black and I love them to death. Iris got them for me bc she knows i love mah socks. I really love them and wear them with boots all the time.  If you saw my first post you'll see that I have these doc marten type of knock off shoes from H&M. They look so cute with these because they are sort of conventionally "man" shoes, so wearing these socks with them helps a lot to bring back the girliness!

Thanks for reading guys!

Pre-Fall 2014 Runway Show

See By ChloĆ©

I recently decided that it was about time I do a fashion post. In the past I have never really followed runway shows or designers, so I saw this as an opportunity to do a little looking. I came across a 2014 pre-fall runway show by Clare Waight Keller (who goes by the name of See by ChloĆ©). I liked this runway a lot because the clothing as well as the photos were fun and well thought out. There are also many wearable looks, which I like because it makes the clothing feel familiar and not very over the top. I don't like runway shows that take fashion too seriously or ones that throw avant-garde to a new level.
The story in the clothing is of aristocratic English girls studying art in Paris. It works because you can see that idea in the clothing and on the models, which shows how much thought was put into the show and photos. I love the bold, colorful, prints and the fun silhouettes incorporated into the clothing. Altogether, I like the runway collection a lot.

Gaby's Outfit For Winter Formal

Hey everyone!

So I had a lot of fun at my school's winter formal. I didn't ask anyone, it's a girls ask guys dance, because my friends and I decided to go as a group. I built my outfit out of things I already had in my closet, because I think it's a waste of money to buy a dress that you only wear once and "can never wear again because I wore it to a different dance" not that I am going to wear this outfit to another dance soon, but Ill pair everything with different outfits so that I still wear all the parts, just separately. Anyway, I thought it would be fun to show you guys my outfit because I had decided that morning what I was going to wear, but i'm pretty proud of how it turned out!

My dress is from Urban Outfitters, It's 70$ and it's still on the website if you guys wanna check it out. It's called "Oh my love lace dress" and I'm in love with it. It's loose fitting, but doesn't swallow you up, and goes to the perfect length. It has lace detailing all around the top and to the back, and down in a v shape on both of the sides. I'm so happy with it because you can wear it more fancy like I did, or more laid back like how the model is in this picture. I'm definitely gonna copy her outfit sometime.

The shoes i'm wearing are these platform/wedge white sandals. They are surprisingly super comfy and they were super cheap! I got them @ H&M for only $10! They were on sale and they were the last ones. I had no idea how I was going to wear them but I couldn't leave them. They're really comfy and cute, and I know that they will be summer shoes.
I have a cardigan/kimono type of thing on. It's from a local boutique but they sell them pretty much everywhere, forever21, Urban Outfitters. It kept me a little bit warmer than I would have been and it added a really pretty drapey look to my whole outfit, also it had white flowers on it that matched with my shoes! I thought that it tied it all together well. Here are some that look a little bit like mine.

Winter Shoe Staples

Hi everyone! This is my first post so I hope ya like it (◕‿◕✿) So anyways I just thought I'd tell you guys about my favorite shoes for winter. Okay so can we just talk about how fabulous Dr. Martens are? They are the loves of my life and I got them for Christmas! They are so beauteous and in the light they are magical and I'm crying. I love how they're kind of ombre and at first I was going to get the black matte ones but these were just too cute. Also, they are soso comfy! At first I was like its gonna suck to have to break into them but they are incredibly comfortable which is rad. I usually wear them with leggings and an oversized flannel or with tights and a skirt and a cardigan. I'm so happy I got them and I definitely recommend them!

The model name is 8-eye vegan boot in red in case you were wondering! And the style number is 569399.

Okay so my next favorite shoes for winter would have to be my all black high top converse. The main reason why I didn't get black Dr.Martens is because my converse already kinda look like them ya feel. I have the normal black high tops with white laces too but these add more of a wintery and edgy feel. I usually wear them with cuffed jeans and a random tshirt. I really recommend all converse though because they fit my feet perfectly because I have super narrow feet. The only downside to them is that they make my feet look super floppy and extra long so that kinda sucks but they only look like that on my feet so I think you're good if you want a pair haha

And lastly, combat boots. I think I'm one of the last people to get them haha but I'm very happy I did and I love them lots. The ones I have are so comfy and they make me very happy. I love wearing them with thigh high socks and mid calf socks. I also like how mine lace up at the top. I couldn't find a picture of the exact ones I have but these come pretty close. Mine are a lighter brown and they aren't that shiny and glossy. But I love them and I definitely think that everyone should have a pair in their closet. Okay so thanks for reading and I hope you guys enjoyed my first post!

Oil Slick Nails

Hey Everybody!
Today I'm going to do a post about a certain nail
polish that I recently received as a christmas gift
from my friend Sam. (She's in my Vlog) As soon as I saw it, i got so so excited because I had seen it at target, but I couldn't buy it because I didn't have any money with me. So it's called "For the twill of it" by Essie. They describe it as a rich brown with reflective green colors, but i would say that it is more of a dark gunmetal grey with purple and green reflective-ness. It's not like it has just some green and purple sparkles in it, no kids, its way cooler than that. It actually reflects the light in different colors. It looks like an oil slick almost, and i've seen a lot of shoes with this sort of design/sheen on them. I personally like the oil slick trend, it sort of grew on me. The colors are just really pretty.
If I would ever buy shoes with the color, I would wear them with some black socks and a black dress, just really anything neutral, i think it would look sick. I really like wearing this nail polish because it follows the trend, with out going all out and buying some shoes like this, which I sadly cannot afford.

Here's another picture of the color, it doesn't really do it justice in this picture, but it's all chipped on
my nails right now, and so I just searched for a picture online and this came up! I overall think it's a really original color and I plan on wearing it all the time!

Alright so, tonight i'm going to my school's winter formal, and I thought you guys might want to see what i'm wearing, I think that Liv is going to do this too, so it will be fun to see both of our outfits!
I hope you guys enjoyed this post and see you guys next time!

It's like cotton candy and as I was driving home I was worried I was going to get into an accident because of how much I was staring at it! Haha anyways enjoy!

Glitch Town

Google Maps always has minor, unnoticeable glitches in their system. However, it has recently been discovered that there is a town provided on the site with streets that have some major glitches. The system error goes on for miles and it turns out that the photos produced are quite fascinating. I found myself going on for miles through the town, observing and taking photos every time I moved forward. The colors give an erie feel, while the pulled effect on the photos makes the houses and plants look like they are dripping. Give it a look around, it is very cool!

Here are some photos I took:
