Weekly Playlist - Kickback

Kickbacks are a time to unwind with friends and chill out, although, they still seem to have those fun party vibes. Want a playlist that meshes the two together? Here's a little catalog that matches the contradiction perfectly!

Festival Fun!

The Fashion of Festivals

Music Festivals!!!! With summer finally here, I have been hearing a whole lot of hype about the recent festivals coming up and it's getting me more and more pumped! I am attending a music festival in Canada and could not be more inspired right now on my outfit choices, accessories, makeup etc. (So excited!) I have had fun with making a few collages recently and below I decided to share one. Hope you get some inspiration!

This Weeks Summer Playlist: Boy Crush

Summer is here!! For most of us at least. It's time to head to the beach, hang out with friends, and listen to some sweet tunes. This weeks playlist is baised off of artists that sing about romance. Whether it's about falling in love, or breaking up, these songs all create a cute and summer-y mood. Enjoy!

The Her Soundtrack

Though I have failed to see the movie 'Her' so far, I have not failed to listen to the entire soundtrack at least 20 times. It is beautifully composed to be soft, emotional and just great music. I love it so much. The internet has 2 different tracks so I have provided both. 'The Moon Song' is by far my favorite listen. Enjoy!

Lil Ugly Mane

Three Sided Tape Volume One (2013) - Thirty two unreleased songs that weave together like The Avalanches' Since I Left You. Three Sided Tape is a hip-hop melting pot that feels like you're looking into Shawn Kemp's stream-of-consciousness outside of his Ugly Mane persona. Alternate versions of familiar songs like "Radiation" make a welcome appearance and oddballs like "Jesus Piece" and "Vudmurk" keep you on your toes.

Favorite Track: "Side One"

Listen to him here.

Air France

No Way Down (2008) - Our friends in Sweden love the sun and it shows. No Way Down is the soundtrack to an endless summer filled with warm sand, Breton stripes, and young romance.

Favorite Track: "No Excuses"

Listen to them here.

Time to Burn

Is.Land (2007) - French hardcore with a little bit of that New Orleans' sludge. This is angry, abrasive, and absolutely oppressive.

Favorite Track: "Nayeli"

Listen to them here.

Caster

Caster (2012) - Caster is a dark and eclectic record that creates a fragmented image of urban nightlife. Claustrophobic and even uplifting at times, the jittery percussion and vocal samples create a great garage album without ever falling into Kindred worship.

Favorite Track: "All That Matters"

Listen to them here.

Fugue

Years (2011) - This is not your typical, convoluted math rock album. Fugue takes us in for twenty seven minutes of clean melodies that emphasize tasteful beauty over fancy showmanship while also uniting jazz and prog rock seamlessly.

Favorite Track: "Vermilion Bird of the South"

Listen to them here.

Netherlands

Silicon Vapors (2013) - A wild and playful rock record with soaring vocals and absurd lyrics. Netherlands embarks on a spacey journey reminiscent of Sleep's Holy Mountain, but with Lego bricks and Adderall in place of the green.

Favorite Track: "Deathling"

Listen to them here.

Sea Oleena

Sleeplessness (2011) - Oleena takes up residence in our ears with a dreamy, folk record that gently rocks the senses. Sleeplessness' subdued sense of energy and youth hits notes of melancholy and bliss with seemingly no effort.

Favorite track: "Milk"

Listen to her here.
